A series of Dry Lands to High Hopes events continue to run across the Isaac region with a small rural school near Clermont benefiting from a smiling mind workshop on Wednesday, 5 May 2021.
Isaac Regional Council, Kilcummin State Primary School and its Parents and Citizens' (P&C) association was proud to host Lyndi Smith, renowned mindfulness trainer.
The event was aimed at creating a social opportunity for people to talk, share and participate in a range of activities relating to health and wellbeing.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the events like the Kilcummin Mindfulness Morning, attended by Division 1 Councillor Greg Austen, contributed to social connectedness and wellbeing as well as increasing access to local support services.
"We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that our drought-affected Isaac communities are facing social and economic challenges on two fronts," she said.
"This ongoing drought, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, is having a flow-on effect, spreading from farms to businesses and households and the Queensland Government grant to help stage these events will help boost our rural and regional communities."
This event is supported by the Queensland Government's Community Drought Support Program which Isaac Regional Council are presenting via the Dry Lands to High Hopes event series.
