Cabonne Council's Water and Sewer team will be conducting smoke testing of the sewer system at 24-40 Waddell Street and 53-74 Tilga Street Canowindra on Tuesday, 21 November 2023 between 9am and 3pm.
This process involves pumping the sewer mains with a non-toxic smoke to locate defects and stormwater connections in the sewer system.
The smoke has a distinctive, but not unpleasant odour. The smoke is manufactured for this purpose, therefore leaves no residuals, or stains and has no effect on plant or animal life.
Council asks that you ensure all sinks, floor drains and gullies are filled with water prior to these activities being undertaken. Should smoke enter your home, you may contact a member of Council's Water and Sewer team to identify the source of smoke that enters your home to enable any defects (improperly installed tubs, basins or plugs etc.) to be addressed.
Should any stormwater pipes be identified as connected to the sewer the owner of the property will be advised to rectify this.
