Snowy Monaro Council CEO Names Acting Chief Roles

Snowy Monaro Regional Council CEO Peter Bascomb has today announced the appointment of both the acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) and acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

"My primary objectives in deciding how to replace Jeff Morgan as COO and Tracy Sligar as CFO have been to ensure that we have minimum disruption to our services, and to provide career development opportunities for current employees."

"I'm therefore pleased to advise that Pat Dunn, currently Manager Finance, has be appointed as the Acting CFO. John Gargett, currently Manager Built and Natural Environment, will step into the role of Acting Chief Operating Officer."

Mr Dunn will be supported by Simon Rennie, a contractor, who will taking on the position of Acting Manager Finance. Mr Rennie has many years' experience as a Manager Finance, CFO and as a Director Corporate Services with extensive knowledge of Civica, our main corporate system. Mr Rennie will commence with Council on 10 July providing a brief overlap with Ms Sligar before she finishes on 14 July 2023.

Mr Gargett will be supported by Peter Smith, who will be employed as the Acting Manager Built and Natural Environment. Mr Smith will be familiar to many from his thirty-plus years with former Cooma-Monaro Shire and Snowy Monaro, ultimately becoming Director Planning and Environment.

Both Mr Rennie and Mr Smith will be engaged initially for a six month period with the option of extension.
