- Cook Government increases social housing eligibility limits for both single and dual-income households
- Changes to income eligibility limits will ensure recipients of Commonwealth benefits remain eligible for social housing
The Cook Labor Government has increased the income eligibility limits for social housing tenants.
Social housing income eligibility limits per week have increased by $14 for single-income households and $21 for dual-income households.
The increase will ensure that households who are solely reliant on the Age, Disability Support and Service Pensions and the Carer Payment continue to be eligible for social housing in Western Australia.
Different rates apply for people in the North West and remote areas and those living with disability.
The increase to income eligibility limits affects both public housing and community housing where public housing income eligibility limits are used.
As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:
"Our government continues to do everything it can to support Western Australians into safe and secure homes.
"We have increased the social housing income eligibility limits eight times since coming into government, ensuring those most vulnerable in our community remain eligible for social housing.
"Social housing income eligibility limits will be raised again in line with rising income support payment rates, ensuring those members of the community who rely on Commonwealth income support remain eligible."
