Software rollout to start

Cairns Regional Council's software systems will get a reboot, with the rollout of a new integrated program set to start this year.

The TechnologyOne Business Improvement program will provide a single, integrated platform to replace a suite of systems that, although they have served Council well during the past 20 years, are now outdated or no longer meet Council's changing needs.

The program will involve an overhaul of Council's internal systems, improving efficiency and paving the way for better customer interaction with Council's online resources.

The upgrades will also improve real-time connectivity and mobility of the workforce.

The first phase will be implemented this year at a cost of $6.07 million. The system is a tried-and-tested solution used by more than 300 local governments across Australia.

The total cost of the program implementation over the next 10 years is estimated to be $16.35 million.
