Sold Out Bledisloe Cup Touches Down In Perth

  • Bledisloe Cup arrives in Perth amidst golden decade of rugby
  • Sold out match only one held on Australian soil in 2025
  • Annual clash between Australia's Wallabies and New Zealand's All Blacks to pack out Optus Stadium
  • Supports Cook Government's commitment to diversify the economy so it remains strongest in the nation

Western Australia's golden decade of rugby ramps up, with the Bledisloe Cup kicking off in Perth in front of a sell-out crowd on Saturday, 4 October 2025.

Tomorrow's match in front of a packed-out Optus Stadium is the only match between Australia's Wallabies and New Zealand's All Blacks on Australian soil in 2025.

The international fixture is supported by the Cook Government through Tourism WA and is expected to deliver a major boost to the local economy, building on the huge success of previous Bledisloe Cup matches held in Perth.

The annual contest between two of the world's biggest sporting rivals is expected to draw thousands of fans from across the country and overseas to WA to witness the blockbuster clash.

The stadium precinct will come alive with a variety of fan activations, from interactive rugby experiences and face painting to a cultural storytelling journey across Matagarup Bridge.

Beyond the on-field action, fans can also enjoy a free live site at Yagan Square, featuring live roving performances and music, with the match being broadcast on the giant screen.

The 2019 Bledisloe Cup still holds Optus Stadium's sporting event attendance record at 61,000 fans, generating $12.5 million in visitor expenditure, while the 2021 match attracted more than 51,000 fans and was broadcast internationally to millions of viewers.

This year's blockbuster match forms part of WA's golden decade of rugby, which has already seen the State host matches between the Western Force and the British and Irish Lions in June and the Wallabies and South Africa's Springboks in August 2024.

Perth also welcomed the HSBC SVNS in January 2024 and 2025, with all of these rugby matches building towards the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup, when WA will host the opening match, as well as four pool and two round of 16 matches at Perth Stadium.

Hosting major events like the Bledisloe Cup is another example of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to attract a year-round calendar of events, attracting out-of-State visitors and generating valuable tourism dollars for local businesses and jobs.

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:

"The eyes of the rugby world will be on Perth tomorrow night when the Wallabies and All Blacks take the field for the only Bledisloe Cup match in Australia this year.

"We expect this sold-out match to draw thousands of out-of-State visitors to Perth, filling our hotels, restaurants and bars, strengthening our tourism sector and diversifying WA's economy.

"This blockbuster event is another milestone in WA's golden decade of rugby in the lead up to the Men's Rugby World Cup in 2027, further boosting our reputation as a world-class host of major sporting events."
