Solutions+ have been appointed to finalise designs and construct the Simmos Beach Parklands and Dharawal Nature Playspace upgrades near the Georges River in Macquarie Fields.

Together, the projects will deliver upgrades to the Simmos Beach Recreation Reserve, including green open space through new community infrastructure, improved footpaths and amenity upgrades as well as a unique play experience within a natural bushland river setting, inspired by Aboriginal culture, the local environment and people.

The Simmos Beach and Dharawal Nature Playspace projects have been closely co-designed with our local Aboriginal community, with designs visually highlighting Campbelltown's location on Dharawal Country.

Aboriginal artists, Aunty Michelle Hailes (Dharawal Nature Playspace) and Jo Tanginoa (Simmos Beach Parklands) have also been commissioned to develop public art across both projects, which will be incorporated into the final designs. Both artists will build on their own storytelling experience and celebrate Aboriginal culture through their art.

"Simmos Beach Parklands and the Dharawal Nature Playspace will deliver a standout destination that offers something for everyone in our community, said Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound.

"This is about more than just infrastructure, it's about creating spaces where people can connect, come together and explore the beautiful local environment we have on our doorsteps," said Cr Lound.

"We're delighted to welcome Solutions+ on board as the contractor for this project. They bring significant experience and we look forward to working alongside their team to deliver a great outcome for the community," he said.

Member for Macquarie Fields, Anoulack Chanthivong MP, said that the upgrades would be warmly welcomed in the community.

"The Simmos Beach and Dharawal Nature Playspace projects pay homage to the bushland river setting and provide a strong connection to Country for Campbelltown's Aboriginal communities.

"Enhancement of our natural spaces provides valuable recreational opportunities for all to enjoy, and I look forward to works getting underway."

With a combined budget of $8.7million, the two projects will enhance Simmos Beach Recreation Reserve into a vibrant, nature-based destination for local residents and regional visitors to enjoy.

"Solutions+ is extremely proud to be partnering with Campbelltown City Council and First Nations artists on the Simmos Beach Parklands and Dharawal Nature Playspace upgrades. It is a real privilege to build places that genuinely enrich our lives, and we are looking forward to delivering these spaces for everyone in the community to enjoy," said the Solutions+ Team.

The Dharawal Nature Playspace and Simmos Beach Parklands projects are both proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
