South Australian man charged after 75kg of cannabis and 2kg of cocaine seized

A South Australian man will re-appear in court today after Organised Crime Squad investigators seized nearly $1 million worth of prohibited drugs in Sydney's Inner West.

As part of an ongoing investigation by detectives from the State Crime Command Organised Crime Squad and officers from the NSW Crime Commission, a 36-year-old man was arrested at a motel on Parramatta Road, Haberfield, just before 1pm last Friday (30 August 2019).

Officers searched the man and a motel room, seizing mobiles phones and a substance believed to be cocaine.

Police also seized the man's ute and trailer, and during a subsequent search of the vehicle, detectives located five items of luggage containing more than 75kg of cannabis, 2kg of cocaine, and 227g of MDMA.

The drugs have a total estimated potential street value of $865,000.

As part of further inquiries, a search was conducted by South Australia Police at a home in Parkside and Christies Beach. Officers located about 200g of cocaine at the Parkside home.

The man was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity) and supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity).

Police will allege in court that the man packed and drove the trailer from his home in South Australia to NSW.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (31 August 2019), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 4 September 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
