S&P Global has once again reaffirmed Western Australia's AAA credit rating, with a 'stable' outlook, underscoring the strength of the State's economy and the Cook Labor Government's continued responsible financial management.
In its report, S&P noted Western Australia's financial management was "very strong" and the State's "budgetary performance will remain superior to that of most domestic and global peers".
The report acknowledged "the State's record of robust financial management, very high-income economy, and exceptional liquidity support our rating".
By responsibly managing the State's finances, the Cook Labor Government is continuing to deliver for Western Australians, providing record investments in health, housing, education, and training, while keeping debt at affordable levels.
S&P noted that Western Australia's "debttorevenue ratio should hold roughly steady over the next few years, in contrast to the rising debt burdens of domestic peers".
Western Australia continues to outperform other Australian states and territories and remains the only Australian jurisdiction with the highest credit rating from both S&P and Moody's Ratings.
These results provide investors with continued assurance that Western Australia remains one of the best places in the world to invest, to support local jobs and keep the State's economy strong.
As stated by Treasurer Rita Saffioti:
"We're proud to have held firm to Western Australia's AAA credit rating through our government's continued strong economic and financial management.
"These results once again show only WA Labor has the experience to keep our State's finances strong, with Western Australia remaining the only state or territory to hold a tripleA credit rating from both S&PGlobal and Moody's Ratings.
"By delivering eight consecutive budget surpluses, we're able to deliver real cost-of-living relief for Western Australian families as well as record investments in our priorities of jobs, health, and housing."
