Enjoy a free screening of The Wild Robot during a special Riverway Movie Nights following Get Ready Townsville this Saturday.
The PG-rated animated movie features the voices of Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill and follows a small robot who has to survive in the wild following a shipwreck.
Deputy Mayor Suzy Batkovic said the film's themes of resilience and adapting to change would complement the days focus on preparing for severe weather.
"Get Ready Townsville is a great opportunity for families to learn simple ways to prepare for severe weather. We're concluding this event with a free screening of The Wild Robot," Cr Batkovic said.
"After learning about being prepared at Get Ready Townsville, children can watch Roz face an unfamiliar and challenging environment. Her story gives them a lovely example of adapting to things when they don't go to plan.
"Don't forget to pack a picnic blanket or chair and your favourite snacks for the screening at Riverway Oval."
Arrive early for a drum circle from 6pm and Triple M's Pre-Movie Snack Bar and entertainment featuring movie snacks, face painting, prize giveaways, a photo booth and more.
