Due to an overwhelming demand for alternate accommodation options during the Rare Spares Rockynats, Rockhampton Regional Council has today announced two camping options – one specifically for spectators and the other for entrants.

Council's Tourism Coordinator, Zac Garven said with the existing hotels, motels, serviced apartments and caravan parks almost at capacity, the two camping sites are a great solution for visiting entrants and spectators who have yet to confirm their accommodation.

"For those Rockynats entrants wanting to camp next to their cars, the official Rockynats Entrant Camp Site, located on Miles Street, is the place to be," Mr Garven said.

"On booking, you'll be able to select between a standard or large, powered or unpowered site.

"Guests will have access to cooking facilities, showers, bathrooms and have the option to purchase daily breakfast, dinner and beverages from the onsite kiosk.

"Spectator Tent City, centrally located in the heart of Victoria Park, provides a great inner city accommodation option and only a 1.7km walk to the Rockynats Drifting Precinct.

"Guests will arrive with their tents set up and ready to go, and will have access to a communal hang out area equipped with cooking facilities including BBQs, hot water urns, toasters, microwave and fridge, as well as charging stations, showers and toilets."

Car parking is available on site, adjacent to the tent area (no parking permitted next to tents).

Bedding will not be provided, however, additional extras such as sleeping bags, camping chairs or an esky can be booked online when making your reservation.

Entrant camping is only available as a five night package, and spectator a four night package for specific dates around the event.
