Spirit of Tasmania passengers flock to book free car trips

Assistant Minister for Industry Development Jonno Duniam said travellers set their alarms for midnight last night to ensure they did not miss out on free car trips on the Spirit of Tasmania.

"The Morrison Government's Spirit of Tasmania bring your car for free initiative is off to a flying start," Assistant Minister Duniam said.

"This is great news for tourism, and great news for Tasmania, and it's the kick start that tourism in Tasmania needed for 2021.

"Already this morning, bookings have been running hot, with travellers excited to bring their car to Tassie for free, thanks to the Morrison Government's $6 million initiative.

"These visitors stay longer, travel further and spend more - which is just what our state needs.

"For travel between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021, travellers can bring their car or motorbike to Tasmania at zero cost and discover everything this beautiful State has to offer.

"This represents an average saving of around $240 return for travellers, and those travelling with a caravan or motorhome will receive the average $240 return saving for their vehicle.

"It's fantastic to see travellers taking advantage of the initiative, so don't forget to book now so you don't miss out."
