Sport, Recreation and Open Space consultation

Community feedback is invited to inform the development of the Mount Gambier Sport, Recreation and Open Space Strategy.

City of Mount Gambier has a diverse range of public open spaces and reserves which are used by the community for a wide range of sporting and recreational activities.

We need to understand how the community uses facilities such as sporting fields and clubrooms and passive open spaces such and parks, gardens and other reserves and how they can be improved in the future.

- Acting CEO Barbara Cernovskis

"Community input will guide the future development of sporting, recreation and open space facilities in Mount Gambier and help Council to lobby for grant funding from State and Federal Governments for future capital works projects."

Interested community members are encouraged to share their views and provide input to shape the strategy by completing the survey at: haveyoursaymountgambier.com.au/sross or by phone on 8721 2555.

In addition, members of the community can attend a community drop-in session to discuss their thoughts on Saturday 15 May 2021 at the following locations:

  • Hastings Cunningham Reserve - 11:30am to 12:45pm
  • AF Sutton Reserve - 1:30pm to 2.45pm
  • Frew Park - 3:30pm to 5:00pm

"The open space exists for the use of the community, so it is important that we understand how these sporting facilities, parks and reserves are currently used and the aspirations of the community for these spaces in the future."
