Fairfield City Council is lighting up sports fields across the city, giving residents more opportunities to stay active and enjoy their local parks after dark.
Lighting upgrades at key locations are helping create safer, more welcoming spaces for the community to walk, jog, play sport or simply spend time outdoors in the evening. The following sports fields are part of the program:
- Fairfield Park - Fairfield
- Adams Park - Canley Vale
- Brenan Park - Smithfield
- Horsley Park - Horsley Park
- Allambie Park - Edensor Park
- Stockdale Park - Abbotsbury
- Emerson Park - Wetherill Park
- Rosford Reserve - Smithfield
- Terone Park - Bossley Park
- Chisholm Park - Cabramatta West
Lights operate daily from 5pm to 7.30pm, making it easier for residents to get out and about with confidence after dark. The selected locations provide a spread across the city, ensuring more residents can access well-lit, high-quality spaces close to home.
Mayor Frank Carbone said the initiative supports a healthier, more connected community while making better use of local facilities.
"Fairfield City has some fantastic parks and sports fields, and we want people to be able to enjoy them throughout the evening," Mayor Carbone said.
"This is about creating safe, accessible spaces where families, friends, and individuals can come together, stay active and make the most of our great outdoors."
The program will continue through winter and conclude when Daylight Saving returns in October, and is part of Council's ongoing commitment to supporting community wellbeing.
