A proudly Tasmanian family-owned business with a rich export history dating back to the early 1900s, has celebrated its contribution to the state's economy.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the Tasmanian Government was a strong supporter of Spreyton Cider Co.
"The company is a leader in value-added agricultural exports, having evolved into a premium producer of high-quality juice, cider, and apple cider vinegar under its Spreyton Cider brand," Minister Barnett said.
"Our Government's Accelerating Trade Grant Program has supported Spreyton Fresh to identify and expand into new export markets, helping to showcase Tasmania's clean, green produce to the world.
"This evolution from fresh produce to innovative, sustainable products reflects the company's commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and global market growth. I commended the company's legacy and forward-thinking approach.
"By converting agricultural by-products into high-value items like apple cider vinegar, Spreyton Fresh is setting a benchmark for circular economy practices in Tasmania's agrifood sector.
"Spreyton Fresh is a true Tasmanian success story - combining heritage, innovation and sustainability to grow our export economy. The Government is proud to support businesses like this as they take Tasmania to the world."
Spreyton Fresh Managing Director Grant Langworthy expressed pride in the company's history and optimism for its future.
"Our family has been growing produce in Spreyton since the early 1900s, starting with apples and evolving into premium beverages and cherries," Mr Langworthy said.
"Today, we're not only exporting juice and cider, we're also finding new ways to add value and reduce waste.
"The Tasmanian Government's support in building the Tasmanian brand and providing market assistance has been instrumental in helping us reach new markets."
The Tasmanian Government wishes Spreyton Fresh every success as it continues its expansion program and builds on its proud legacy of Tasmanian excellence.
"This is a perfect example of our Government working together to deliver our plan to keep Tasmania moving forward," Minister Barnett said.
