A major redevelopment to Stan Twight Reserve in Rockingham has officially opened, delivering modern facilities and upgraded lighting to support the growing needs of local sporting clubs and the wider community.

The project was supported by a $1 million grant through the Cook Government's Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, $6 million from the City of Rockingham, and a $50,000 contribution from WA Football through the Australian Football Facilities Fund.

Home to the Shoalwater Bay Cricket Club, Safety Bay Stingers Football Club, and Rockingham Rams Masters Football Club, Stan Twight Reserve has seen strong growth in participation in recent years, including increasing numbers of women and junior players.

The outdated 30-year-old pavilion was demolished and replaced with a contemporary social pavilion featuring kitchen and bar facilities, clubrooms, and storage.

A new change room building has also been constructed, providing four gender-neutral change rooms, an umpires change room, first aid room, and an externally accessible universal toilet to support inclusive and community-friendly use.

The project also delivered new floodlighting upgrades to 150 lux on the main oval, allowing clubs to better meet demand for training and to host evening competition fixtures.

The renewed facilities have been designed to boost accessibility, inclusivity and community safety, ensuring the reserve remains welcoming and fit-for-purpose for people of all ages, abilities.

The upgrades are part of the State Government's PlayOn WA: 2,030 by 2030 initiative, which is delivering new and improved community sport infrastructure across the State to ensure local clubs have safe, modern, and accessible facilities.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Stan Twight Reserve is an important community sport hub, and these new facilities will make a real difference for local clubs, players, and supporters.

"With participation continuing to grow - especially among women and juniors - it's vital that our community facilities are safe, inclusive, and built for the future.

"The WA Government is proud to invest in projects like this through PlayOn WA, to ensure our communities have access to high-quality places to play, train and connect."

As stated by Rockingham MLA Magenta Marshall:

"Rockingham has a strong sporting culture, and this investment reflects the pride we have in our local clubs and volunteers.

"With more women, girls, and juniors taking up sport, it's crucial our local amenities are welcoming, safe and built to support inclusive participation.

"The WA Government is proud to have supported this transformation, and I am excited to see the great benefits for community sport in Rockingham."
