A resident of Mareeba in the Sunshine State is celebrating a life-changing win of $1 million in the recent Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw. The man, who held the sole division one winning entry for the draw held on Wednesday, 20 September 2023, couldn't contain his excitement upon realizing the magnitude of his fortune.
He received the shock of his life when he casually checked his lottery tickets at his local newsagency, only to discover he had become an overnight millionaire.
"Thank you so much!" the winner exclaimed, overwhelmed by the moment.
"The stars were shining on me last night. I have never won anything like this before."
He further shared that the win would help alleviate some of the challenges he had faced recently.
"We've had a few setbacks, so this will really help take the stress off. I'll be able to look after the family," he said.
The joyous winner emphasized that, despite the windfall, he remains grounded.
"I'm very happy, but I'm still the same person. My heart will stay true to itself," he said.
The man's winning 10-game QuickPick entry was secured at Nextra Mareeba News, located at 125 Byrnes Street, Mareeba.
The store's owner, Mary Graham, was elated to have sold another division one winning ticket, especially to a deserving regular customer.
"We're over the moon! It's fantastic to have sold another division one ticket, especially after the win in April," Graham said.
"The local Mareeba community will certainly be buzzing. We wish the winner all the very best!"
The winning numbers for the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4323 were 14, 27, 30, 33, 7, and 39, with the supplementary numbers being 22 and 40.
