A Sydney-based business has been fined $84,000 and convicted of 18 offences in Parramatta Local Court on 28 August 2026.
The prosecution related to the inspection of a wholesale bakery in South Granville owned by L'Oven Bakery Supplies Pty Ltd on 20 February 2024.
During the inspection, authorised officers reported 11 offences under the Food Act 2003 where the food business failed to comply with the requirements of the Food Standards Code including critical breaches in relation to hygiene and sanitation, construction and maintenance, and process control.
The inspection report included evidence of the presence of pests which had chewed into food items, with dirt, grease and mould observed on equipment in the premises, and food stored uncovered.
As a result of the inspection, the facility was placed under a Prohibition Order. The company has not requested the lifting of this Order and remains closed.
An additional seven food labelling charges were identified on 22 February 2024 for missing date marking on multiple baked products.
This is not the first time L'Oven Bakery Supplies Pty Ltd has faced court over food safety breaches.
On 22 September 2023, the business was convicted of 23 offences and fined $75,000 in Parramatta Local Court.
