State Dept's Bureau Launches Initiative to Predict Conflict

The Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations will host an event to announce the Academic Centers of Conflict Anticipation and Prevention (ACCAP), a new public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State and eight universities, on November 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. EST.  Under this new initiative, the universities will collaborate on research, analysis, and data projects that will enhance the Department of State's ability to anticipate, prevent, and respond to conflicts around the globe.

Welcome remarks will be delivered by Assistant Secretary Anne A. Witkowsky.

All media representatives are kindly requested to arrive at the 23rd Street entrance of the Harry S. Truman Building, no later than 9:30 a.m. EST. The event is open to the press.

Media representatives may attend the launch event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a media-issued photo identification card; or (3) a letter from the requester's employer on letterhead verifying his/her employment status as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver's license or passport). Those who do not have a State Department building pass should allow adequate time for visitor security processing at the 23rd Street entrance.
