State Flying Squad Deploy 17 Times In Month Of Action

The State Flying Squad (SFS) deployed 17 times during March, to the Darling Downs, Ipswich, Mount Isa, Mackay, South Brisbane, North Brisbane, Far North, Capricornia, Moreton and Townsville police districts, to support local police with extra boots on the ground.

During the month, officers from the SFS charged 89 adults with 318 charges and 47 young people with 125 charges, ranging from property crime, vehicle theft and burglary, to crimes against the person and sexual offences.

In March, the SFS visited the Townsville district, bringing their total visits to the area to 21 since the Squad was expanded in January 2025.

During the deployment, SFS officers charged 12 adults with 40 offences and 4 young people with 8 offences.

The SFS deployed to the Capricornia district 3 times in March, bringing their total visits to Rockhampton and its surrounding region to 12 since the Squad's expansion.

In the 3 March deployments, SFS officers arrested 19 adults on 44 charges and 8 young people on 15 charges.

During a Rockhampton deployment, SFS officers assisted local police executing a search warrant at a Norman Gardens address on 10 March.

A 33-year-old Norman Gardens man was arrested and charged with three counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possess things used and possess tainted property.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on 16 September.

While deployed in Townsville, SFS officers executed a search warrant at a Pompeii Street address in Kelso.

Police allegedly located methylamphetamine, lysergide (LSD), cannabis and utensils during the search.

A 35-year-old Kelso woman was charged with four counts of fraud (making off without paying), two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and LSD), and one count of possess utensils.

She is expected to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 20 April.

A 46-year-old Kelso man was arrested and charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, possess utensils, contravene domestic violence order and failure to appear.

He appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on 16 March.

Detective Inspector Joe Nixon of the State Flying Squad said the assistance the Squad provided apprehending serious repeat offenders across Queensland during March demonstrates the boosted capability of the enhanced Squad.

"Our officers deployed 17 times last month, helping make each community safer by enhancing local police operations when and where it was needed," Detective Inspector Nixon said.

"Queensland communities are seeing noticeable results when those continuing to cause harm are taken off the streets, and we'll keep deploying across the state as needed."

"I appreciate our officers taking time away from friends and family, especially over holiday periods, to help us make Queensland safer."

During the deployment, officers from SFS supported local police by implementing a range of intelligence methods to locate and arrest a 21-year-old Gowrie Mountain woman, before executing a search warrant with support from PSRT, allegedly locating a handgun, used drug utensils, ammunition, methylamphetamine, MDMA and GHB.

The woman was charged with 65 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and one count of possessing anything used in a crime.

She was remanded in custody and appeared before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 9 March.

A 36-year-old Gowrie Mountain man was also located during the search and was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possess Category D/H/R weapon, possess utensils, possess explosive and possess relevant substance.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 30 April.
