Statement on future of Victoria Tourism Industry Council

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

In the early 2000's, following a request by then Premier Steve Bracks to the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to lead the creation of a single voice for the tourism industry, the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) was established. Former ALP Senator John Button was appointed as the first VTIC Chair.

VCCI has been proud to support VTIC, providing all of its member services and employing its staff. We are pleased to have strongly contributed to the reputation of Victoria's visitor economy sector and to boosting VTIC's membership growth, policy and advocacy agenda, media presence and events.

The current VTIC Board has decided that the time is right for VTIC to continue as a separate organisation, and so will not renew its agreement with VCCI from September 2020. We wish VTIC every success for its future as it continues to operate under the trademark VTIC.

The Victorian Chamber will continue to support our members in the visitor economy. Businesses can contact the VCCI team on 03 8662 5333,
