Statement On Passing Of Harold Balcomb

Attributable to NSW Farmers' President Xavier Martin:

We are saddened to learn one of our past presidents, Harold Balcomb, died on 27 April 2026.

Harold was a strong leader who was actively involved with NSW Farmers and its predecessor, the Livestock and Grain Producers' Association of NSW, and was elected president in 1981.

His term as President covered a very difficult period for agriculture; not only were there consolidation of farm organisations into the LGPA, but also a terrible drought, the wide comb dispute, and a groundswell of farmer discontent with governments unsympathetic to agricultural issues.

Despite the challenges, Harold served both the Association and the wider farming sector very well, and I extend the condolences of all members to his family and friends.
