Statement On Resignation Of Ms Carol Austin

Australian Treasury

Earlier this week, the Chair of the Housing Australia Board, Ms Carol Austin, advised me of her intention to resign, effective 27 November 2025.

I thank Ms Austin for her contribution as the Chair of the Housing Australia Board.

One of the key priorities of the Albanese Government is delivering more affordable housing for Australians.

Since the Albanese Government was elected, more than 190,000 Australians have been supported into home ownership through Housing Australia's delivery of the 5 per cent Deposit Scheme. The expansion of the 5 per cent Deposit Scheme to all first home buyers was implemented by Housing Australia on 1 October, three months ahead of schedule.

Housing Australia is also central to the Albanese Government's commitment to deliver 55,000 social and affordable homes. Across our social and affordable housing programs, 5,000 homes have already been completed with a further 25,000 homes in construction and planning.

Ms Austin has played an important role in delivery of these priorities as Chair of the Housing Australia Board. She helped Housing Australia scale up and build its capability to deliver the Government's ambitious $43 billion housing agenda. Ms Austin goes with my gratitude and very best wishes.
