Statement on Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital

NT Government

4 November 2022

A Code Yellow has been called for Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital (RDPH) due to a peak in hospital capacity following an increase in patient admissions who require acute care.

A Code Yellow enacts a number of practices and will allow the hospital to closely manage the situation and implement measures to ease pressures on the hospital system.

Elective surgery lists at RDPH are currently under review, and some surgeries scheduled for the coming days have been deferred. Surge management plans are also in place to reallocate resources and support with admission and discharge processes.

Patient safety is a priority, and we thank our dedicated staff at for their hard work during these periods of high demand to ensure Territorians continue to receive the best patient centred care possible.

The Code Yellow at Katherine Hospital was lifted at 1:00pm this afternoon.
