Statement regarding library services in community

CEO of Northern Grampians Shire Council, Michael Bailey, has made the following statement in regards to the ongoing library services in Stawell, St Arnaud and Marnoo:

"In an attempt to maintain a consistent and high level of service while delivering the efficiencies required to maintain a fiscally responsible council, changes have been proposed in the way we operate the library service for the community."

"Council's intention is to bring the library staff on as council employees, which will reduce the cost of administering the library service to the community."

"The focus of the transition is to maintain the level of service to the community that they currently enjoy."

"The transition phase is a 12 month process, where the final operating model will be developed over that time in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders."

"We, like most of our residents value the role of libraries within our community."

"Our focus at this time is to finalise a model that will provide the same level of access to the facilities that our community is receiving today."
