Stawell Police charge two with assault police

Stawell police have charged a 38-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman following an incident at a supermarket in Stawell on 14 August.

It's alleged two police officers were inside a supermarket when they were approached by the male and female.

Shortly afterwards the police left the business and they were allegedly followed and assaulted outside.

A Senior Constable received a broken thumb and the a Leading Senior Constable received a cut lip and loose teeth.

The Stawell man has been charged with assault police, recklessly cause injury, threaten an emergency worker, resist arrest and bail offences and has been remanded to appear at the Stawell Magistrates' Court on 10 September.
