Stolen car located at Hilton - two arrested, South Australia

Two men have been arrested over a stolen car at Hilton last night.

Just after 9.30pm on Wednesday 9 October police were alerted to a petrol drive off at a service station on Sir Donald Bradman Drive involving a stolen white Toyota Hilux.

Police patrols searched the area and spotted the stolen Hilux in the rear car park of a nearby hotel on South Road. As officers approached the car, a man was seen exiting the hotel but he immediately ran off upon seeing police.

The man ran west along Sir Donald Bradman Drive but was arrested after a short foot chase. (One officer sustained a hand injury during the arrest and was taken to hospital for treatment.)

A second man, believed to be the passenger, was also arrested nearby.

The Toyota Hilux was stolen from a Novar Gardens address on Tuesday morning (8 October).

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Port Augusta, was charged with illegal use, drive unlicensed, making off without payment, assault a prescribed emergency worker, hinder police, unlawful possession and breaching bail.

The passenger, a 58-year-old man from Point Pearce, was arrested on a first instance warrant.

Both men have been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide and Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
