Stolen dogs and drugs located, Surfers Paradise

Police have recovered a stolen French bulldog and a large quantity of drugs estimated to be worth $50,000 in a unit at Surfers Paradise yesterday.

Around 3.55pm Gold Coast detectives issued a search warrant on the Ferny Avenue premises where they located a French Bulldog called Mercedes that had been reported stolen from a residence on Old Burleigh Road at Surfers Paradise on May 15, 2022. Another French Bulldog at the unit was not stolen.

Officers also located large quantities of crystal methylamphetamine, Xanax, GHB and around $5, 700 in cash throughout the unit.

A man and a woman, both aged 35 were arrested at the unit without incident.

While police were executing the search warrant another woman aged 59 years attended the unit and was detained by police.

A 35-year-old woman from Surfers Paradise and a 35-year old man from Tweed Heads have both been charged with five counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count each of supply dangerous drug, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act and possess utensil. Both are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

A 59-year-old woman from Surfers Paradise has been given a notice to appear for counts of possess dangerous drug and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 7.

Mercedes has been reunited with her owner.
