Stolen police vehicle, Deeragun

A 32-year-old Mount Low man is this morning in police custody following the theft of a police wide load escort vehicle from Deeragun Station overnight.

At 2.30am police responded to reports the man had driven off in the vehicle from a Mount Low address after allegedly taking it from the rear of the Deeragun station.

Police followed the man for some time before a tyre deflation device was successfully used at Alligator Creek, deflating the two left hand tyres at 4.05am.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop after driving into Lavarack Barracks and crashing into a police car at 4.20am.

The man was taken into custody minutes later and is now assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations are ongoing.
