Stolen Vehicle Hit And Run Appeal At Cairns

Police are appealing for information after a man was injured during the theft of a vehicle in Earlville last night, 4 October.

Emergency services were called to a housing complex on Ishmael Road at 6pm following reports a man had been struck while attempting to prevent a white Toyota Camry from being stolen.

The 61-year-old Woree man sustained multiple serious injuries and was transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.

The occupant of the stolen vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

The Toyota Camry was recovered nearby a short time later.

Two men are currently assisting police with enquiries.

Investigators are appealing to residents and businesses who may have information or relevant video footage to contact police.
