Stolen Vehicle Tracked From Gympie To Logan District

Police have charged two people after a stolen truck was tracked from Gympie to the Logan area on 13 August.

Around 2.30am, police received reports a depot on Laurenceson Road in Monkland had been broken into and a white MAN TGS truck stolen.

The truck was carrying a red Holden Commodore, which had also allegedly been stolen from a business on Brisbane Road in Monkland, earlier that morning.

The truck was tracked to Tralee Court in South Maclean just before 8.30am, during which police and POLAIR observed a silver Volkswagen Polo travelling with the truck before both vehicles stopped at separate locations in South Maclean.

The stolen truck was then located stationary on Olsen Road, while the Volkswagen Polo stopped nearby.

The driver of the stolen truck was then observed getting into the Volkswagen Polo, which travelled to Greenbank and later stopped on Stockleigh Road before entering an underground carpark at Beenleigh Marketplace around 9.20am.

Police located and arrested a 19-year-old Oxenford woman and a 35-year-old South Maclean man inside the shopping centre.

The stolen truck and Holden Commodore were recovered by police.

The 19-year-old woman has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company, and unlawful possession of motor vehicle with intent to deprive in company.

She is due to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on 9 September.

The 35-year-old South Maclean man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company, unlawful possession of motor vehicle with intent to deprive in company and driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence.

He is due to reappear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 18 September.

Investigations are continuing into the alleged break-ins and thefts, including the involvement of other people.
