Brian McGuigan and John Drayton are prominent figures in the local winemaking industry and supporters of Stomp Festival
Stomp Festival, a beloved celebration of Cessnock Local Government Area's winemaking heritage, will return this year with renewed energy and focus. Formerly run by the Chamber of Commerce, the festival will now be proudly managed by Cessnock City Council, reinforcing Council's commitment to preserving and promoting the region's world-class wine industry.
As one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Stomp Festival has long served as a platform to showcase the exceptional wines produced in the region.
John Drayton, former owner of Drayton's Family Wines and a key figure in the local wine industry, expressed his full support for the festival's role in telling the story of the region's history, ensuring the ongoing success of its wineries, and fostering local pride.
"It's fantastic to see the Stomp Festival continue to grow under the leadership of Cessnock City Council and bring our community together to celebrate our shared passion for wine," said Mr Drayton.
"As a local whose family has been part of the local winemaking landscape for over 170 years, this event, along with its renowned grape stomping competition, is an ode to the incredible heritage and historical traditions of our region, from our vineyards, wines, and the generations of winemakers who have made this area what is it today."
Stomp Festival will take place on Saturday 30th August from 10am to 8pm, and will feature a range of local wines, food stalls, live entertainment and activities for all ages.
