Stonnington celebrates Library and Information Week

Library and Information Week is coming to our Stonnington Libraries from 17 – 23 May and this year's theme is adventures in space and time.

Libraries are indeed places of adventure. Every time you visit a library, you're on a journey whether you're searching for specific information, browsing our collections or coming together with others to learn something new.

Libraries are online spaces, where we can interact virtually to stay connected to information and each other at times when we need to stay physically distant.

They can also be adventures in time, where we revisit the past, connect with stories and memories of those who came before us or imagine the future, exploring new ideas for making a better society or creating new knowledge for generations to follow.

This week, we invite you to re-connect with your local Stonnington Library as we take you on an adventure through space and time. There are 17 events, both in-person and on Zoom, including:

  • a National Simultaneous Storytime featuring Mayor Cr Kate Hely and Cr Nikki Batagol,
  • a Book Chat at home discussing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writing, and
  • a discussion about true crime writing with authors Vikki Petraitis and Emily Webb.
