Strengthening strategic partnerships in US

As a research-intensive University, we aim to deliver world-leading research that has a positive impact on global challenges. To do this, we need to develop and sustain strategic partnerships with institutions who share our common goals.

As a values driven University, that combines a truly global outlook with research expertise from all disciplines, the University of Notre Dame (USA) is a natural partner.

History of collaboration

We have a long and exciting history of collaboration, with a strong focus on Theology, Catholic Studies and Anthropology. Our partnership has resulted in;

  • The establishment of the Early Modern British and Irish Catholicism biennial conference, with the next conference due to take place in July 2020; and the founding of the Catholicism, Literature, and the Arts (CLA) conference. The CLA conference explores key questions concerning the relationship between Catholicism and literature, music, and visual art.
  • The hosting of our Durham Global Lecture Series in Notre Dame's London Global Gateway.
  • Close links in our Anthropology work, through the Anthro-Zoonoses Network which promotes the anthropological study of human-animal diseases, and our collaborative work examining various aspects of infant and child sleep and parenting behaviour.

Looking to the future

Our ongoing partnership with the University of Notre Dame (USA) provides opportunities for collaboration and strengthened research outcomes, and we are looking forward to what we can achieve together.

The partnership also provides exciting prospects for faculty exchange and possible student exchange schemes.

International Partnerships

In support of our ambition to broaden our partnership with University of Notre Dame (USA) and explore possibilities for collaboration in other Faculties, we signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday 8 November.

A Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Notre Dame (USA) was originally signed in 2014.
