Two men will face court, charged following an investigation into a drug supply syndicate and firearm possession in the state's central west.
In November 2025, detectives attached to Orana Mid Western Police District established Strike Force Clarkton to investigate the supply of drugs and possession of firearms in Mudgee and Dubbo.
Yesterday (Thursday 8 January 2026), officers, with the assistance of Western Region Operations Support Group and Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team, along with Orana Mid Western PD Criminal Investigation and Proactive Crime Team, executed two search warrants in Gulgong.
During a search at a home in Belmore Street, Gulgong, police allegedly seized an amount of MDMA and amphetamines, along with electronic devices. Officers arrested a 40-year-old man who was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged with:
- Supply prohibited drug greater than or equal to commercial quantity,
- Possess prohibited drug,
- Two counts of access/modify restricted data held in computer, and
- Receive property-theft=serious indictable offence less than or equal to $5000.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 9 January 2026), where he was formally refused bail to face Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
During a search at a second address in Belmore Street, police allegedly seized an amount of prohibited drugs and electronic devices. Officers arrested a 34-year-old man who was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged with:
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity,
- Two counts of access/modify restricted data held in computer, and
- Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 9 January 2026), where he was granted strict bail conditions to appear before Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday 11 February 2026.
This follows the arrests of two men (aged 43 and 36) on Tuesday 23 December 2025 at a property in Yarrawonga by strike force detectives – with assistance of Tactical Operations Unit and Tactical Operations Regional Squad – also under Strike Force Clarkton. Both remain before the courts.
Investigations under Strike Force Clarkton are continuing.
