Strike Force Vulcan arrest - Hamilton Hill fire

Strike Force Vulcan detectives have charged a man in relation to a fire in Hamilton Hill on Saturday, 4 January 2020.

It is alleged about 11.30am, the man set fire to grass at the Wheeler Street Reserve in close proximity to houses.

The fire spread rapidly towards houses due to wind direction and Department of Fire and Emergency Services were able to extinguish the fire at a fence dividing the reserve from homes.

The 49-year-old man from Hamilton Hill is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 8 January 2020 charged with:-

• Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage.

This offence carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
