Subway Socceroos record highest FIFA World Ranking in 10 years

The Subway Socceroos have finished the year in 27th spot in the FIFA World Rankings following its unprecedented run to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

It is the highest ranking for the Green and Gold since March 2012 when they were 20th, and best position to end a calendar year since 2011 (23).

Australia was ranked 38th going into the major tournament, but successive 1-0 wins over Tunisia and Denmark to progress to the knockout stages, has seen them climb 11 places.

Australia officially finished in 11th place in the FIFA classifications in Qatar - its highest ever position at the major tournament. In 1974 the Aussies came 14th out of 16 nations and 16th from 32 teams in 2006.
