Tweed Shire Council is inviting local community groups and not-for-profit organisations to apply for project specific funding through its 2025 Community Grants Program, open today, Monday 2 June to Sunday 29 June 2025.
The program offers financial support, of up to $5000, for grassroots projects that enhance community wellbeing, increase social connection, promote inclusion and reduce homelessness. Projects that activate local spaces and bring people together are also encouraged.
Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry said the grants empower local organisations to create lasting, positive impacts in their communities.
"These grants are about supporting the people and ideas that help the Tweed thrive," Cr Cherry said.
"We're encouraging all eligible groups with a project that create real impact in our community to apply and make the most of this funding opportunity."
Recipients of last year's community grants include Mongrels Health and Wellbeing, a grassroots, community-focused initiative that uses inclusive, no-nonsense language and creative approaches to support men's mental health, resilience, and social connection—especially among those who might not usually engage with traditional wellbeing programs.
Also successful was the Brain Injury Community, a grassroots, peer-led initiative that fosters connection, understanding, and resilience among people living with brain injury, using honest conversations, creative expression, and community support to break down stigma and promote wellbeing.
Grant support
To help applicants strengthen their proposals, this year's program includes a series of free capacity building workshops and drop-in support sessions.
These sessions will help participants develop project plans, understand grant requirements and strengthen their overall skills in applying for funding opportunities.
