The State Government is investing a further $4.2 million to support children and young people who have experienced child sexual abuse.
As part of National Child Protection Week 2025, the State Government has announced it is investing a further $4.2 million to support children and young people who have experienced child sexual abuse.
The funding is for Parkerville Children and Youth Care to continue delivery of the Multiagency Investigation Support Team (MIST) service over two years in the existing locations of Armadale, Midland and Rockingham.
MIST is a cross-agency, cross-disciplinary team comprised of the Child Abuse Squad in the WA Police, child and family advocates and therapeutic support services.
The service offers a unique wraparound and integrated response by facilitating access to therapeutic supports, psychoeducation and health services for children and young people who have experienced child sexual abuse and their families - supporting them from the time of disclosure, through the police investigation and judicial process and beyond, for as long as the family requires.
This enables the WA Police team to focus on the investigation and criminal proceedings, knowing the children and their families are receiving the support and assistance they need.
MIST was established by Parkerville in 2010 to deliver a critical multi-agency, trauma informed support service for victims and survivors of intrafamilial and extrafamilial child sexual abuse from 0-18 years.
