Year after year under Labor, the dream of many young Victorians to own their own home slips further out of reach.
Over the past decade, property prices across the state have increased dramaticaly due to ever-increasing property taxes, higher building costs and Labor's mismanagement of our planning system and construction sector.
Under Labor, stamp duty revenue has doubled, land tax revenue has more than tripled and total property tax revenue is expected to increase from $2.79 billion in 2014-15 to $11.34 billion in 2028-29.
For a generation of young Victorians, the hope to own their own home has al but faded. They no longer believe that they wi l be able to attain the financial security, stability and control that comes from owning your own home.
Unlike Labor, my team understand the social and economic benefits of home ownership and wants to ensure every Victorian has the best opportunity to get their feet on the property ladder.
Increasing home ownership gives people real independence and control over their future.
A Jess Wilson Liberal and Nationals Government will:
- Reduce the state tax burden on the purchase of homes.
- Stop the spiralling costs of construction by reviewing the impact of Labor's major project blowouts on the residential construction industry.
- Invest in the right infrastructure in the right places to keep our state moving.
- Promote housing choice for all home buyers.
- Work in partnership with local councils to achieve appropriate housing targets.
- Develop a framework to support infrastructure investment and population growth in our regions.
- Work with every part of the home construction industry who are key to helping solve this crisis.
