Local Shopping Campaign Launches in Northern Grampians Shire

Northern Grampians Shire Council is launching an online, shop local campaign called Support Your Local and encourages all residents in the shire to participate and support local businesses.

The aim of the campaign is to promote Northern Grampians Shire local businesses and prompt communities across the shire to shop local from the comfort of their lounge rooms.

The campaign will run from Monday 20 July through to Friday 31 July inclusive.

Local businesses are invited to take part by emailing their business logo, their sale offer, a photo of their store or details of what is for sale and whether the item can be picked up or delivered door to door.

They can also let their customers know how to take advantage of the offer whether that is through the business's online store, a Facebook page, or simply by phoning the business.

There is no requirement for businesses in the shire to have an online presence as the campaign will run through a Facebook event with the content being managed by council.

Northern Grampians Shire businesses are invited to take part in the campaign by contacting the Business Engagement team on [email protected] or 03 5358 8718.

Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Murray Emerson, said this initiative is particularly important in the current COVID environment.

"More than ever we need to support our local businesses, they are the lifeblood of our community and in the current climate it is important to give them a boost and keep our money in our towns."

"The "Support Your Local" campaign is a great initiative and we encourage all local businesses within the shire to take up the opportunity for self-promotion and selling opportunities through the shire's Facebook event."

"Let's back our businesses and 'eat, shop, buy' at their stores and in the online space through this campaign."
