Kingston is again proud to join the 16 Days of Activism campaign to prevent family violence and violence against women.
We are putting equality and respect in the spotlight as we pursue our vision for a safe, respectful, and supportive community that is free from all forms of inequality and violence.
Violence against women continues at unacceptable levels across Australia, with more than 1 in 3 women experiencing men's violence; and on average a woman is killed by a man she knows every 10 days - in 2025 that number is tracking 13% higher than in 2024 with 2062 family violence incidents recorded by police across Kingston, that's around 40 per month too many. If you are experiencing violence help is available.
We are committed to creating a future that is free from all forms of violence and will support the campaign through ongoing advocacy, community activities and events and taking practical steps to make a real and lasting difference.
The global 16 Days campaign is led annually by UN Women for the prevention of violence against women and runs from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).
This 16 Days we encourage everyone to reflect and support how we can all strengthen positive, equal and respectful relationships.
