Our wonderfully diverse arts community has been recognised with financial help from Council.
The Arts Grants funding allocations have been finalised for another year, helping artists get a project off the ground.
In all, $27,000 has been distributed to seven recipients, with the business team contributing $4,000 of this towards an art and retail activation at the G3 art space.
The other funded projects include a school mural and an augmented reality installation at Mentone Train Station.
There were three categories - Arts Projects, Community based art projects and Local makers and Creative Businesses.
Grants were assessed criteria such as creative, innovative and original concept, high-quality outcomes and capacity to engage the target audience.
The Arts Grant recipient projects are:
- A mural at Mordialloc Beach Primary School
- An exhibition of photographs, drawings, and sculptures exploring heirlooms
- An augmented reality installation at the Mentone Train Station
- An exhibition of paintings and sound pieces based on the remnant wilderness in Kingston
- An exhibition of drypoints, linocuts, and drawings inspired by different areas of Kingston, all made on location
- An exhibition focused on notions of identity and including traditional paintings, digital prints, sculpture, and a projection screened at the Bridge projection space
