Labor is supporting more frontline health workers to live and work in Shepparton.
Minister Settle today visited Goulburn Valley (GV) Health to mark the completion of 33 new apartments.
The project includes 18 self-contained apartments supported through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, alongside 15 apartments backed by the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.
Located adjacent to the Shepparton Hospital, the three-storey accommodation will provide ideal lodgings for up to 39 workers at a time, including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and other staff.
This proximity to their worksite and local public transport connections will ensure tenant staff are supported to maintain their work-life balance, while providing them with direct and safe access to the hospital at all hours.
With Shepparton developing as one of the region's main economic and population hubs, these projects are essential to support healthy and thriving communities, while helping to remove barriers to further growth.
Local builder Hansen Yuncken delivered the site using recycled glass and sustainably sourced timber materials, while supporting dozens of jobs throughout construction - benefiting workers and the regional supply chain.
The apartments feature solar power, heat pump hot water systems, LED lighting, double-glazed windows, electric vehicle charging, and on-site bike parking.
The Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest grant program of its kind in Victorian history.
The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund has activated more than $300 million in private investment to deliver worker housing in rural and regional communities.
More than $50 billion has been delivered through the Carroll Labor Government over the past decade to make our regions even better places to live, work, visit and study.
