The festive season is on its way, with Christmas trees starting to appear across the Surf Coast Shire.
The first of five brand new, four-metre solar-lit Christmas trees has been installed in Winchelsea, with the remaining trees to be in place by late November.
Residents and visitors will be able to spot the trees in:
- Aireys Inlet: Between bottom shops and Painkalac Creek.
- Anglesea: Cameron Park, next to the horse statue.
- Lorne: Next to Visitor Information Centre on Mountjoy Parade.
- Torquay: In front of NAB (bank) on Gilbert Street.
- Winchelsea: Between Anzac Memorial and Bluestone Bridge.
"This is the first time we've installed Christmas trees across our towns, and we're excited to see them bring some festive fun to our communities," Mayor Cr Mike Bodsworth said.
"We've heard from locals that they love seeing our towns come alive during the holiday season, so these trees are a fun way to add some colour and cheer across the shire."
"They are part of our Share the Surf Coast Spirit program, which is all about celebrating the festive season and all that locals love about living here."
New stars are also about to be installed in Torquay (Bell Street, Gilbert Street and Torquay township) and banners in Lorne and Torquay. There will also be timber twinkle trees in Winchelsea (by the Men's Shed), Winchelsea Elf Trail in local shops and hand decorated stars from Deans Marsh Primary School students on display.
Between 14 November and 18 December kids can drop their letters off for Santa at the Torquay and Lorne Visitor Info Centres to get a reply by Christmas.
