A crime scene has been declared at a Collingwood Park house with Ipswich detectives investigating the death of two people.

Just before 1am this morning (January 23), emergency services were called to a Hannant Street residence after initial reports of a disturbance and found the lower level of a two-storey house alight.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and the bodies of two people, believed to be a 68-year-old woman and her 73-year-old husband, the only occupants, were located inside the home.

An autopsy is yet to take place to formally identify the pair and determine the cause of their death.

No domestic violence orders were in place however police are investigating if this was a factor in the deaths.
