Suspicious grass fires Seaford Meadows, South Australia

Police are investigating after three suspicious grass fires in Seaford Meadows were reported to police this evening.

About 6.10pm Thursday 27 December police and fire crews were called to Sauerbiers Road after members of the public reported seeing smoke coming from the area.

Upon arrival police located three grass fires burning in close proximity to each other along the road, the first fire was small and self-extinguished. The second fire burnt approximately 200 square metres and the third burnt approximately one hectare of grass and shrubs.

Police believe the fires were deliberately lit and are asking anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report on line at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.

With total fire bans declared across the State tomorrow (Friday 28) emergency services urge the public to remain vigilant of any suspicious behaviour in fire danger areas and report any suspicious activity or fires to police immediately on 131 444 or Triple zero (000).
