Suspicious vehicle fire in Alice Springs 21 February

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to a suspicious vehicle fire in Alice Springs overnight.

Police and fire crews responded to a report of a vehicle fully engulfed by flames in car park on Gregory Terrace just before 11pm.

Fire crews successfully extinguished the fire, which destroyed the vehicle. Thankfully no one was injured and there was no additional property damage as a result of the fire.

The area was cordoned off and declared a crime scene as police are treating the fire as suspicious.

The vehicle was not stolen and there is no complaint forthcoming from the owner.

Police inquiries continue.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information which may assist with investigation to contact police on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
