The Swan Hill Regional Community Sports Hub is taking shape, with Councillors approving the layout designs and external façade renders at their meeting on Tuesday, enabling the project to move into the detailed design phase and be "shovel ready". The project is a key component of the Swan Hill Showgrounds, Sport and Recreation Precinct Masterplan, adopted by Council in September 2025.
The new single-storey, under-croft facility, planned for the south side of the existing grandstand, has been shaped through extensive stakeholder input. Together with other precinct initiatives, the Hub demonstrates how the Masterplan is already being brought to life through a considered, staged approach that supports the long-term vision for the Showgrounds and surrounding sporting facilities.
Designed to be fully accessible and welcoming, the Hub will deliver modern, flexible, multi-use spaces to support a wide range of sporting, social and community activities. Features include club administration areas, meeting rooms, a large social space, generous storage and facilities strategically located to connect with future development opportunities within the precinct. The design prioritises functionality, strong connections between spaces and a building that works for its users.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said the Hub is an important catalyst project within the Masterplan.
"Council is fully committed to advocating for and delivering a sport, recreation and events precinct that meets the needs of our community now and into the future, for generations to come. This Hub design is a major step forward and clearly demonstrates how the Masterplan is guiding our long-term vision," Cr King said. "This Hub has been shaped by the people who will use it. The design provides practical, adaptable spaces that support groups now while allowing for future growth.
As a cornerstone project of the Showgrounds Masterplan, the Swan Hill Regional Community Sports Hub detailed design represents a significant milestone in delivering a modern, future-focused precinct that will support the community for decades.
Director Development and Planning Michelle Grainger said the completion of the detailed architectural and engineering design package confirms the project's readiness and positions the Hub to compete for upcoming State and Federal funding opportunities. "It is exciting to have Masterplan projects shovel-ready for when funding becomes available," she said.
Council, together with key project stakeholders, is actively engaging with decision-makers to ensure the Hub is recognised as a strategic priority for the municipality.
