Swim teachers and lessons

The following comments are to be attributed to Director Community Life Robyn Stevens:

The shortage of swim teachers felt elsewhere in the region and the country and the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the industry, is something we are also experiencing at City facilities. As a result this has impacted the wait times when enrolling children to join our Webstar's Swim School Program.
In the coming weeks, we will be recruiting additional Learn to Swim teachers to further support the current demand for swimming lessons. We encourage any qualified swim instructors to consider applying to work with us for a flexible and highly rewarding role.
We appreciate that parents are eager to enrol their children in lessons. Those on waiting lists will be contacted as vacancies become available to ensure that all children have the opportunity to learn water-safety skills and enjoy the many benefits of building capacity in and around water. With 133km of coastline in our municipality, it is crucial that families continue to plan for lessons in future as further places become available and we thank families for their patience and understanding.
